i have always loved movies. i always loved seeing the elaborate costumes on the silver screen both in classic movies like my favorite movie of all time Gone With The Wind to more modern movies such as Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. 3 years ago i joined a rennaissance faire guild with my now husband and made my own costumes as well as my wedding dress for our handfasting. i discovered i loved to sew and eventually decided that i wanted to make not only my garments for faire but my own very individual garments for everyday around the house wear. however i couldnt find any modern patterns i liked so i turned to what "normal" people consider costumes. 2 years ago i started out to make a reproduction of the dress that the character Violet Baudelaire wears throught the entire film of A Series of Unfortunate Events. its still not finished , mostly due to money constraints and right now, a certain lack of time due to my 11 month old son. however i found that after i started making it i wanted to change it ever slightly just to make it my own dress. so in addition to this web page for Tara's Assignment Im going to make this an online costume journal. eventually i would like to make and sell some of my creations down the line.
